Our Offer

  • We offer several ways for you to explore and plan a career by expanding your studies. This can be done through a double-major or a major-minor degree, or via various practical credit schemes inside the English department and across departments.
  • Industry-university cooperation cultivates English talents for all walks of life. Encounter the world of work and develop your specialized English abilities through courses in professional English, themed workshops in English, focused English conversation experience, and visits to industry.
  • There are internships and overseas study opportunities available. In addition to arrangements with partner universities outlined in 4 below, we offer the following:

(1) A UK summer study-tour program, "British Culture and the English Language in an Authentic Context”, and the Tzu Chi Humanities English study-abroad course in the United States.

(2) Domestic summer internships, overseas internships and full-semester internships. These include placements with Tzu Chi operation

  • In our global village, overseas and cross-cultural contact is important. We offer students chances to take part in study exchanges to TCU’s sister institutions, and the opportunity to experience being a school Mandarin teaching assistant.
  • On campus there are various standard university study routes, but we also offer a twin-track international education: there are opportunities to follow a 3 years + 1 year dual bachelor degree, or a 4 years + 1 year dual master’s degree.
  1. A double degree with Middlesex University (London, UK), open to third- and fourth-year students.
  2. A 3+1 bachelor’s degree with California State University Pomona, USA, and a +1 Master's Prerequisite Program at the same university’s Research Institute.
  3. A 3+1 bachelor’s degree with Saint Louis University, USA, and a +1 Master's Prerequisite Program at the same university’s Research Institute.

In addition to the support offered by the university, the department offers its own scholarship. Qualified hardworking but economically disadvantaged students from Eastern Taiwan are welcome apply for this annually reviewed award.

Overseas Exchange and Subsidy

Application deadline:

5/1~15 overseas exchange subsidy in Summer vacation ;

9/1~15 overseas exchange subsidy in Winter vacation;

This subsidy must be applied for before leaving the country. If you are going abroad during the semester, please apply one month before going abroad. Overdue applicants will not be accepted. Please pay attention to all students to protect their rights.

Each person can apply for the subsidy once per academic year, subject to the approved case.
